If you’ve grown tired of tinny earbud headphones, constant recharging, wireless pairing, bluetooth enabling or wearing your heavy professional headphones out in public, then you might be ready for the HD100.
The HD100 are a prosumer relation of the wildly popular HD280, a headphone that always ranks well in our Headphone Survey. These are a basic and affordable choice for simple headphones to wear as you go about your daily listening. Super light weight, no batteries to charge and nothing to link or pair. There is no active noise cancelling either to block out the outside world. They look smart, but don’t attract attention and at 1/10th the cost of some popular noise canceling options, it’s not a huge loss if you do happen to get jumped for them by mistake.
I travel regularly and have often chosen the original Bose Quiet Comfort headphones for the isolation they provided from the outside world, especially on longer days. Over time though, I noticed they were simply too isolating for most of my daily use. As much as I enjoy the total emersion on long flights, I also like to hear what the gate agent is saying & like to hear at least some of what’s going on around me when possible while waiting around during travel. It’s always smart to be aware of your surroundings when you’re anywhere in public.
So back to basics for under $50 here at the time of the video, maybe you’ll find these an interesting option and alternative to earbuds like I have. I’m going to continue to use them and will update this post as I get to use them more.
