If you’ve got a mac and work with sound, you’ll probably like the apps Rogue Amoeba makes. SoundSource is just one of a suite of individual problem solving apps the company has on offer. From recording individual audio streams, to routing audio around a building using your wireless network, they’ve got you covered.

However, SoundSource was designed primarily to manage multiple audio interfaces. It can route audio to them from discreet applications & brings metering to your mac’s toolbar. You can use it to audition plug-ins, or give yourself some real metering right on your desktop. The possibilities really are up to your imagination. It would be great to hear how you’re using it if you end up finding it helpful.

This app, like most of what Rogue Amoeba does is for the Mac only. Since publishing this video, Windows users have mentioned EarTrumpet for some of the same functionality. If you have questions about EarTrumpet, their GitHub page is a great place to look for answers.

You can check out SoundSource and all of Rogue Amoeba’s apps for yourself though. Download and demo them for free, then come back to the video and let everyone know what you think. Which one of their apps solves a problem you’ve been dealing with?
