#79 – QSC TouchMix Review Update – 1 Year Later
In the year since my last two videos about the QSC TouchMix, I’ve continued using these mixers, a LOT. They’ve really grown on me, and looking at the number of folks who are still watching my original review videos, I thought it was a good time to take another look and talk about how they’ve improved the mixers through software and firmware updates in the past year.
If you’ve somehow managed not to update your hardware or software recently, the apps and firmware have both really progressed. Refined, simplified and ultimately made a much more cohesive experience going back and forth between the two while mixing, QSC has been adding features and functionality regularly.
RTA functionality, Feedback suppression and a room tuning wizard are just a few of the big ticket features that are onboard now. I personally only use the RTA out of these, but it’s a tool that I use on every single job. Placing the mix selection controls within easy reach under your left thumb, has made it very easy to mix quickly and intuitively on this app when you’re dealing with multiple mixes on the fly.
Needless to say, I enjoy these little mixers. I don’t own one personally, but whenever I run into them on jobs, I’m happy enough knowing that I’ll have the tools I need and the flexibility to get the job done. I’m interested to see where QSC takes the software next, they’ve set the bar pretty high in 2017 for updates and added features.
